A little bit of the sketching that I managed to get away with in between running back and forth between workshops and portfolio reviews at CTNX! I had a blast and can't wait to go back next year!

Life Drawing HW -- Ben Lane talk

Ben Lane, a CCAD alum and story artist at Disney, took some time last week to talk to us via Skype! I also did a little sketching in between note taking.

Halloween Sketching!

Went to a Halloween party thing at one of my favorite bars and did some sketching. A mix of people actually in costume and 'monster-fying' other bar patrons not in costume.

Head Hunting

Then I took one of my sketches and pushed it a bit further. Lots of fun!

Character Design from Life

I took some loose life drawing sketches from when I was at 16-bit and turned them into a more interesting character. I really enjoyed working on this!

Character Swap

I was given another student's life drawing gesture and had to make it into an interesting character with personality and back story.

Here was the original one (from my classmate, Laura Mansfield):

And here are my rough sketches and final design. I found myself responding to the really loose, soft lines in Laura's original sketch and tried to keep that sense of roundness and softness in the final design.

Life Drawing HW -- The Wine Bistro

I got out of work a little early on Saturday night, so I sat and sketched up some of the people sitting at the bar as well as some of my co workers cleaning up for the night! Bar gestures were fun and probably a good idea for the future -- these definitely made me think more about how the different people were interacting with each other.

And then just for fun, I did a quickie for the theme -- draw yourself in your favorite video game! (Legend of Zelda!)
